As with any country artists, there are highs and lows, not often an easy journey. But Nashville artist, Jon Pardi began ten years ago, leading the charge to modernize honkytonk with roaring guitars and one heck of a good time along with success, and has yet to slow down.
With Jon's newest upcoming album, 'Honkytonk Hollywood', release date April 11, some tracks ring with pure country tenderness, while others embrace fuzzed-out fiddles and soaring tripled guitars, or some grungy bass lines and bottomless grooves. The title track, "Honkytonk Hollywood" sets the mood strategically placed in the core of the album, which is a grits-and-glitz tribute to the dual nature of his life and mindset.
"All my albums have been rock and roll with a country flare - this one keeps on rockin'", Jon explains. "It's also the most grown-up record I've ever made, it's basically all my soul. 'Honkytonk Hollywood' is for the Nashville that's in my blood and it's also a nod to by California roots. And right now, more than ever, I hope it's a way to honor and lift up the people of my home state."
Jon enlisted producer Jay Joyce for the first time and stepping away from the traditional Nashville recording system, he spent three solid weeks in the studio, building each track up from nothing with his touring band handling the vast majority of the recording. Jon goes on to say, "We did what we wanted, and it stands out because of it. Taking the chance paid off, and I kind of want to keep it that way."
I have been a fan from the beginning and like I said previously there are highs and lows for a country artist, and I will not fib and say I have been in love with everything Jon has released, but that never detoured me from staying with him and being excited about any new endeavors. 'Honkytonk Hollywood,' is just that and proof of the hard work and new process that went into it.
