I will never dismiss the fact that I have a love for music, and the good old down home country music is part of the art form I admire. Through the years, sounds have changed, but after listening to Alex Miller and Emmy Ann Roberts, I am convinced there is hope.
Alex and his co-writers wanted listeners to hear, "More Country Than You" and think, "Dadgum, now that's COUNTRY." He adds, "It may be the countriest thing out there and I'm proud of it. I hope everyone enjoys this new song. It tips the hat to the great duets of the past. Emly Ann is a great friend, and I'm thrilled." The song was produced by Jerry Salley for Billy Jams Records.
For Emily Ann, the song reflects the love she and Alex share for traditional Country music. "We've always been kindred spirits because we're young kids with hearts that beat for this music. We've been writing together for awhile now and that day we were working with Billy Whyte, and it just clicked. We knew this one was something special, and with all the back-and-forth banter it was fun to record. I hope folks get a laugh when they hear it."
Alex Miller , the 21 year-old, 6'6" entertainer from rural Lancaster, Kentucky, is a natural fan favorite. American Idol Season 19 brought him fame and totally changed his life in 2021. He's toured the State and County Fair circuit heavily and gone on to open for some heavy hitters such as Brooks & Dunn, Justin Moore, Josh Turner, Jamey Johnson, as well as Alabama. Now that is something strong to add to any artists resume. Alex moved to Nashville in May of 2024 and had the honor of making his Grand Ole Opry debut in June. His five-song EP, 'My Daddy's Dad' on Billy Jam Records is a keeper.
From humble beginnings on small Knoxville stages to 20 Grand Ole Opry performances, Emily Ann Roberts has diligently earned her place in the spotlight. Her journey began as a standout on Blake Shelton's team on the hit TV show, 'The Voice', which was a stellar achievement before she even graduated from high school. Since then, Emily has gathered a wealth of experience in performing, songwriting and recording. In late 2023, she released her debut full-length album, 'Can't Hide Country', which showcases her unique blend of traditional country and bluegrass roots. The album has has garnered her over 23 million streams and counting. She has opened for Blake Shelton on his 'Back To The Honky Tonk' tour as well as for Jamey Johnson's 'What A View Tour'.
OK, I am saying this with conviction: this song will leave you with such a big grin that it will take awhile for it to be removed from your face. It clearly shows the talent Alex and Emily Ann have, as well as the respect they have for one another. And heck, they just want to have some fun while doing what they love to do.
